How to borrow board games
Browsing at the library.
Browse the selection of game covers available on the shelf. Bring the cover card to the front desk. Staff will source the full game and issue it to your library card. Games cannot be issued via the self-check machines.
Reserving online.
Login to our online library catalogue and browse the collection. Place a hold to collect your chosen library. If a game isn't available, simply "place reserve' to join the queue and we'll let you know when it's ready for you.
Terms of play.
- Our games are for library members who are 16+
- You can borrow one game at a time. The loan period is two weeks. Renewals are unavailable.
- Take care setting up and packing away, arrange pieces back into their assigned packages before returning the game.
Return a game.
Please return all games to the front desk, not via the returns chute (even if it fits).
Ensure all pieces are packed into the assigned packages before returning.
If any pieces are missing or damaged please let us know.
A replacement charge may apply for lost or unplayable items.
FAQs
What happens if I lose a piece?
If your game is missing a piece when you return it, please let the library staff know. Depending on how essential the missing piece is, the game may still be playable, or it might need to be removed from the collection. A replacement fee may apply if the game is no longer playable due to damaged or missing parts.
Can kids borrow board games?
This collection is aimed at adults, so you must be 16 or older to borrow a board game. Of course, you're welcome to enjoy them with friends and whānau of all ages once you've checked them out!
Can I use the self-check machine to borrow a board game?
No. Because we need to make sure all the pieces are included, board games need to be checked out at the front desk.
Can I play games inside the library without borrowing them?
No sorry. You are welcome to play in the library, but you will need to issue the game onto your library card first.
